Hi, I’m Emilia Talar, a media professional with a passion for visual storytelling and a knack for bringing ideas to life. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications with a focus on Media Production from Ball State University, along with minors in Spanish and Entrepreneurial Management.
Currently, I serve as the Media Center Coordinator and Production Specialist at Highland Park High School, where I get to flex my creative muscles across various media - videography, photography, social media, graphic design, and digital communication. While I enjoy all aspects of media production, my work is primarily focused on video—from brainstorming and scripting to filming and editing.
Whether I’m producing promotional content, documenting events, or collaborating with departments and student organizations, I’m dedicated to crafting engaging, high-quality media that connects with audiences and leaves a lasting impression. I’m proficient in Adobe Creative Suite—including Premiere Pro, Lightroom, and Photoshop. I also regularly use Canva to design clean, effective visual materials for various platforms. I work with full-frame and mirrorless cameras such as Sony, Canon, and Blackmagic, and I’m comfortable using lighting kits, microphones, and other professional AV tools.
In addition to media production, I provide support for curricular and student-led projects, ensuring technical quality and creative integrity. I also sponsor both the Yearbook Club and HPTV (Highland Park Television), where I guide students in content creation, video production, and storytelling. These experiences have deepened my passion for mentoring and community-driven media.
My passion for visual storytelling extends beyond my work at Highland Park High School. In my free time, I’m a freelance photographer specializing in portrait and landscape photography. This allows me to further hone my skills in composition, lighting, posing, client communication, and post-production editing - all essential elements of capturing meaningful moments and telling visual stories.
I’m a collaborative, organized, and highly communicative team player who thrives in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. When I’m not immersed in media projects, I enjoy learning new piano pieces and experimenting with cooking and baking recipes.
Thanks for visiting—please feel free to explore my portfolio, and don’t hesitate to reach out!
